A sound classical training is essential for the excellence of all dance forms, and the daily class is the foundation of a career in the theatre. Specialist teachers take all classes with pas de deux, boys having a male teacher.

Major syllabi of the Royal Academy may be taken as a private coaching option.

The Major Ballet syllabus of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance is taught, with FDI Ballet, incorporating Anatomy, Music, History of Dance, Child Development and Teaching Methodology, as an optional extra.

The FDI examination requires specialist skills, all students take teaching practice within the College using pupils from the School. These classes are monitored and students assist in the coaching of children for examinations.
