Entry to the college is by audition only. Auditionees will show a satisfactory standard throughout the audition day. SLP College will consider students who have no prior training but show potential, passion and a determination to succeed in Musical Theatre and Dance. Auditions are held regularly throughout the year.
How to Apply
Send in the completed Application Form together with the following:
- Non-refundable Audition Fee of £40.00 – payable by PayPal, BACS or debit card please
- Two front facing head and shoulders photographs* – you can smile!
- Full length photograph* – Feet parallel, front and rear view, wearing a leotard or similar
- Full length photograph* - 1st Arabesque en l'Air, wearing a leotard or shorts with tight fitting t-shirt
- Reference from your current Dance School or training establishment (preferred but not obligatory)

The Audition Day
All applicants are invited to attend a full day of auditioning
Musical Theatre applicants will be asked to prepare two contrasting musical theatre songs, a solo dance routine and a monologue of your choice, preferably in your own accent and written after 1990.
Dance Course applicants will be asked to prepare one musical theatre song and a solo dance routine.
The Audition Day consists of:
- Jazz Class
- Commercial Jazz Class
- Ballet Class
- Solo Song Presentation
- Solo Dance Presentation
- Acting Presentation (Musical Theatre only)
SLP College looks for candidates with talent, ambition and personality who are committed, disciplined and hardworking for all of its courses. Potential and personality are as equally valued as previous experience and skill.
In the dance classes you will be assessed within groups. Your solo material will be performed in front of the audition panel only.
Funding and recall auditions
Applicants who are successful on audition are invited to our funding recall day in April. This recall is designed to ensure you are on the most appropriate course at the college and to assess you for funding.
Applicants who reside outside the UK may also audition by DVD. Please see below for further details.

Dance and Drama Awards (DaDA) for the Diploma
SLP is one of the leading training providers in the UK and is subsequently part of the Government’s DaDA scheme administered by the FA (Education Funding Agency).
Fees and Scholarship Funding
3 Year Musical Theatre Course (Full Time)
Leading to The Level 6 Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre validated by Trinity College London. For students accepted on the Accredited Course but not allocated a Dance & Drama Award, a Scholarship may be offered. The examination fee for The Level 6 Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre is included only in the DADA Award. Other students may take this examination as a chargeable extra.
Fees: £4000 per term (No VAT)
3 Year Dance Course (Full Time)
Leading to The Level 6 Diploma in Professional Dance validated by Trinity College London. For students accepted on the Accredited Course but not allocated a Dance & Drama Award, a Scholarship may be offered. The examination fee for The Level 6 Diploma in Professional Dance is included only in the DADA Award. Other students may take this examination as a chargeable extra.
Fees: £4000 per term (No VAT)
1 Year Foundation Course (Some scholarships available) (Full Time)
Fees: £2,000 per term
1 Year post Graduate Course (Full Time)
Fees: £6,000.00 annual fee
Our Trinity Diploma courses are funded by the Government’s Dance and Drama Awards. Those applicants who demonstrate exceptional talent at audition will be invited to attend a DaDA re-call. These awards are now means tested and details can be found at www.gov.uk/dance-drama-awards
In addition to the funding options SLP also offers Boy’s Scholarships. These Scholarships are awarded to those students who demonstrate exceptional talent, regardless of parental income.
Students from the European Union may apply and can be funded for their tuition through the Government’s Dance and Drama Award Scheme. However, the DaDA scheme will not cover maintenance.
A DVD can be used for the 1st audition process.
We also welcome International students and have secured T4 Highly Trusted Sponsor status from the Government’s UK Visas and Immigration Service.
A DVD can be used for the 1st audition process together with a fee of £40.00. The DVD should show the following:
Ballet - Barre & Centre
Jazz - Warm-ups and combinations
Acting - Short 1 minute monologue in English
Solo Song - In English
Solo Dance - Jazz or Ballet
