SLP College is situated in the heart of the North and was established in 1991 by the Principal, Sandra Reid, in a large converted chapel that has been further developed and extended to provide excellent facilities for musical theatre and dance.
We welcome students from diverse backgrounds regardless of race, previous training or disability, providing that they show potential and passion for the course offered.
Miss Reid’s vision was to offer talented students from all walks of life the opportunity to train in the north of England, regardless of their financial circumstances.
We welcome overseas students and have secured T4 Highly Trusted Sponsor status from the government’s UK Visas and Immigration Service.
SLP College has a first class faculty encompassing professionals from television and the theatre. All of our teachers are highly qualified and are specialists in their chosen subjects. Guest teachers from all genres visit on a regular basis and bring with them fresh ideas and up-to-date information on the industry.
We are one of the UK’s leading training grounds for young artistic performing talent. The hallmark of this success has always been the creativity and diversity of our students, teachers and the warm, friendly, helpful atmosphere that is apparent to all who visit the college. All staff whether teaching or support, endeavour to make all students welcome and valued.
SLP College of Performing Arts seeks to preserve and nourish the individuality and creative spirit of each of its students encouraging them to develop as performers, accelerate individual progress and reach their full potential. In the vibrant atmosphere at the college, we advocate a policy of open communication, creating a unique working environment producing positive, versatile and communicative young professional performers. This is demonstrated by the wide success of our students in all areas of musical theatre. SLP College is committed to diversity, inclusion, equality and working together to safeguard children and young people.
We are overseen by OFSTED as we are a provider of the government Dance and Drama Award (DaDA) scheme for both our Professional Diplomas in Musical Theatre and Dance
